Manny Ramirez is expected to finally sell his high-end Ritz-Carlton condominium today after years of marketing and a $3 million price drop, but in keeping with the former Boston Red Sox slugger’s colorful history, the deal comes with some dramatics.

Boston real estate agent Michael Doherty, who says he notified the buyers about the availability of the four-bedroom luxury condo, is suing the listing broker and buyers, saying they fleeced him out of a $110,000 commission on the expected $5.55 million sale.

Or it may not.

For three years WORD Child Development Center has expressed strong interest in the building. It issued a well-received bid proposal when the single-story building at 40 Clarkson St. was put up for auction pre-bidding.

It has been a week since Tropical Storm Irene passed through the area, but its effects continue to linger — particularly in the local real estate market.

Real estate professionals from across Rhode Island explained that they are left dealing with additional complications in an already difficult housing market.

Suzanne Blades, a realtor with Keller Williams Northern Rhode Island, said the storm put a direct damper on at least one potential sale for her.
